Chiropractic care can help you recover from new or old injuries, and resolve the pain and discomfort that has been plaguing you. But not everyone reaps the exact same results from chiropractic care, in the exact same amount of time. That’s because we all heal at slightly different rates. But in order to get the most benefit from your care, follow these tips outside of the office.
Drink plenty of water. Hydration helps to move nutrients through your body and remove waste. It also helps you to feel more energetic and lubricates your joints. So make sure you’re drinking about 64 ounces of water each day.
Use correct posture. Yes, you can hurt yourself while sitting still! So many minor aches and pains are caused by sitting with poor posture, holding your phone at the wrong angle, tilting your head at a bad angle to work or watch TV, and driving with incorrect form. Let’s discuss your posture at our next visit, so that you can avoid straining your neck and back.
Exercise wisely. If we’re treating an injury together, follow our instructions regarding exercise. You might be instructed to rest or take it easy. Once you’re cleared for full exercise again, remember to use correct form to avoid overuse injuries. Stretch before and after exercise. Rest days are important, too.
Follow all treatment instructions precisely. We might offer further treatment instructions, such as the use of ice and heat. We might also prescribe specific exercises that you should do on a regular basis to support your chiropractic adjustments. Please ask any necessary questions to be sure you understand instructions, so that you can support your own treatment at home.
And of course, do call us at any time if you need assistance. We want your chiropractic treatment to be successful, so that you get back to your regular activities and fully enjoy life.
