Do you suffer from low back pain that extends down into one side of your buttocks, and even down one leg? When a patient presents with these symptoms, we usually suspect sciatica, or sciatic nerve pain.

Not all lower back pain is sciatica, but if your sciatic nerve is involved, the pain can be debilitating. You might find it difficult to stand or walk, and along with the pain, you might experience burning, tingling, or numb sensations down one side of your body.

Sciatica can happen to anyone, but most frequently occurs in people aged 30 to 50. It can also be particularly common in pregnant women as the growing uterus puts pressure on the sciatic nerve.

If you suffer from sciatic nerve pain, you know that it can be severe. You might avoid all activities, especially those that involve lots of walking, and you definitely don’t feel up to your usual exercise routine. Turning to pain medications can temporarily relieve your discomfort but won’t address the underlying cause of sciatica. The pain will just return, and you will risk all of the downsides of pain medication, including dependency.

Instead, make an appointment with us to address the underlying cause of your sciatic nerve pain. Chiropractic treatments can relieve pressure on the sciatic nerve. We will also teach you how posture and other preventive techniques can discourage the problem from recurring.
