When people hear the words, “chiropractor” or “chiropractic care”, many ideas might come to mind. Unfortunately, there exists quite a bit of misunderstanding about what chiropractic care is, and how we help our patients to heal and feel better. We hope to shed some light on these myths, so that no patient is ever afraid to seek the care that they need.

“Routine care isn’t needed.” Just as we visit the dentist for regular cleanings and checkups, it is important to seek routine care from a chiropractor. Regular appointments can often keep patients from developing the types of painful problems that necessitate more in-depth treatments.

“Chiropractic care is not safe”, or “chiropractors hurt people.” If this were true, our malpractice insurance rates would be through the roof! In fact, the opposite is true. Chiropractors pay the lowest premiums for malpractice insurance because insurance companies recognize that the care we offer to patients is overwhelmingly safe and effective, with minimal or zero side effects.

“Chiropractic care hurts!” Many people mistakenly view chiropractic care as collection of painful procedures. On the contrary, we have ways of performing adjustments while keeping our patients relaxed and comfortable. Chiropractic care does not equal pain and discomfort; the goal is to avoid that entirely! We work toward reducing joint inflammation and nerve irritation, so that our patients can feel better both in our office and in their everyday lives.
