Many people feel interested in pursuing chiropractic care, but they worry about the length of treatment. They wonder whether one visit fix their problem. What about five, or ten, or one hundred? How long will it take?
Naturally, we can’t really answer that question in a single blog post, because each person’s background and medical situation are unique. But we can offer you an analogy, to help you understand how we approach chiropractic care, and give you an idea of what to expect from your treatment.
Imagine that you have a car, and it starts making a funny noise. Or, it feels “off” when you drive it. So, you take it to a mechanic and he begins searching for the source of the problem.
If you’ve taken impeccable care of that car over the years, giving it the right gas, performing oil changes on time, keeping it stored out of the weather in a garage, and seeking regular tune-ups, you might expect that the problem is something relatively minor and routine. You imagine that it can probably be fixed easily and quickly, and you would most likely be correct.
On the other hand, if you haven’t maintained the car well, and it has suffered a variety of problems over the years that have yet to receive attention, you might be looking at a very difference scenario. Those problems can build up over time and complicate one another, and now you must undertake several repairs. Your car might be in the shop for a while.
You can probably see where we’re going with this analogy: The length of your chiropractic care, as well as the exact methods we need to use, will depend upon various factors contributing to your current health. If you’ve ignored a problem for years, it could be more complicated to treat. On the other hand, if you just recently suffered one minor injury, in many cases we can get you feeling better quickly.
After we address the initial problem that brought you in to see us, we might make other recommendations to help you stay healthy.
