You might be surprised to learn that nutrition is yet another component of chiropractic care. Yes, the foods you eat can actually impact the health of your joints, and the levels of pain that you might feel! In this video, health coach Gina Reinecke discusses how you can adjust your diet to support your chiropractic care.

The main thing to remember is that low glycemic meals are extremely important. This means that you balance each meal between proteins and the right types of carbohydrates. We want to avoid increasing your blood sugar levels suddenly, and instead eat meals that are digested more slowly. This ensures that your blood sugar levels remain steady, rather than spiking and crashing.

Sugar, white flour, some fruits, and items like white rice are considered “high glycemic” foods, and these are the carbohydrates you want to avoid. When your blood sugar levels fluctuate dramatically, this contributes to inflammation and pain in the body.

Instead, focus on proteins, veggies, and whole grains. When you eat a lower glycemic diet, you can lower the inflammation in your body and thereby lower the amount of joint pain and other problems that you experience.
